Spectral announces presentation of data on improving sepsis patient management with EAA(TM) and Toraymyxin(TM) combination

(TSX: SDI) today\nannounced that data demonstrating the clinical utility of its EAA(TM)\nEndotoxin Activity Assay in combination with Toray Medical's therapeutic\ncolumn, Toraymyxin, was presented at the Practical Aspects of Extracorporeal\nBlood Purification in Intensive Care Medicine, 6th Annual Conference held in\nMoscow, Russia from May 28th-30th.\n\n\nDr. Alexander Romaschin, Head of Clinical Biochemistry at St. Michael's\nHospital in Toronto and Associate Professor in the Department of Lab Medicine\nand Department of Surgery at University of Toronto, presented on the\neffectiveness of sepsis patient management with the use of the combination of\nSpectral's EAA(TM) assay, the only FDA cleared diagnostic for the measurement\nof endotoxin, and the Toraymyxin(TM) column, which removes endotoxin from the\nbloodstream. Dr. Romaschin's presentation was entitled "Diagnostic and\nPrognostic Implications of Endotoxemia based on Measurements Using the\nEndotoxin Activity Assay". It\nconsists of a plastic cylindrical container filled with a special fiber\ncomposite immobilized with the antibiotic polymyxin B, which has high affinity\nfor endotoxin.
