The company recently announced that exploration is set to resume at its Oro Polymetallic Project in western New Mexico, following successful bidding for two key parcels of State land which lay within its project area. The historic mining area is prospective for bulk-tonnage, intrusion-related gold mineralization, deeply buried copper porphyry, and polymetallic skarn deposits. Copper giant Freeport-McMoRan is slated to soon begin their second deep hole at Southern Silver’s Dragoon property in southern Arizona. Their first deep hole to test a down-dropped block of prospective stratigraphy found hundreds of metres of anomalous copper mineralization and extensive oxidation of primary sulphide minerals, indicating the possibility of nearby deposit. Southern Silver recently acquired the Cerro Las Mintas project near Durango, Mexico.
