(Nasdaq:BIOM) (TSX:BRA) announced today that Rao Koganty, PhD, Vice President and General Manager of Biomira's Synthetic Biologics Unit is scheduled to present at the upcoming 8th International Workshop on Carcinoma-Associated Mucins Conference. The conference is to be held at Robinson College, Cambridge, U.K. July 9-13, 2005. Dr. Koganty's presentation is part of a session planned for July 13, 2005 from 11:35 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. (GMT + 1.00) entitled "Mucins and Disease". His presentation is entitled, "BGLP40: A synthetic segment of MUC1 as a glycopeptide antigen for the immunotherapy of cancers." "Dr. Koganty's presentation is an excellent opportunity to highlight our internal work in the mucins area," said Alex McPherson, MD, PhD, President and CEO of Biomira. "BGLP40 is our third generation product candidate and we believe a compelling step forward in vaccine development. We are now looking to partner this product candidate as part of our growth strategy." The International Workshop in Cambridge is a biannual event that allows scientists from around the world to come together to discuss their work in this field. The first such conference was held in 1992.
