Suntec temporarily closes plant

/NOT FOR DISSEMINATION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/

Symbol: SUT: TSX Venture Exchange

CALGARY, July 9 /CNW/ - Suntec Pure Water Technologies Inc. ("Suntec") announces today that effective July 15, 2007 Suntec's water treatment facility in Wheatland County will be temporarily closed in response to a severe downturn in oil and natural gas drilling and fracturing activity in the area. Suntec expects to resume operations at the facility upon drilling and fracturing activity in the Wheatland County area returning to the elevated activity levels experienced in prior years.

Suntec continues to develop its proprietary water treatment technology and is actively seeking a joint venture partner, both for the further commercialization of its patented CHIPS technology as well as for the additional water treatment technology currently under development.

About Suntec

Suntec Pure Water Technologies Inc. provides services to treat and recycle oilfield waste water and to sell recycled water, methanol water and potassium chloride. Waste water and sand is transported by truck from well fracturing operations to Suntec's oilfield waste water treatment facility, located approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Calgary, Alberta. The recycling service removes residual contaminants from the water. Treated and recycled water, methanol water and potassium chloride are then sold to oil and gas industry operators for re-use in the oil and gas drilling and development process while the sand is shipped to a recycler. The waste water, as treated and recycled by Suntec, would otherwise be disposed of through the existing method of deep well injection, removing the water from the hydrological cycle.

Suntec's common shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol "SUT".
