[{"type":"text","content":"\n Seeing Machines Limited\n27 June 2006\n\n\n\n27 June 2006\n\n SEEING MACHINES LIMITED\n\n ('Seeing Machines' or 'the Company')\n\n GRANT of US PATENT\n\n\nSeeing Machines Limited (AIM : SEE), a leading developer of advanced computer\nbased imaging software systems, was advised on 26 June 2006 that the US Patent\nand Trademark Office had on 9 May 2006 granted a United States Patent to the\nCompany as follows:\n\n\n\nUS 7,043,056 'Facial image processing system', Edwards, T. et al.\n\nAbstract: A method of determining an eye gaze direction of an observer is\ndisclosed comprising the steps of: (a) capturing at least one image of the\nobserver and determining a head pose angle of the observer; (b) utilising the\nhead pose angle to locate an expected eye position of the observer, and (c)\nanalysing the expected eye position to locate at least one eye of the observer\nand observing the location of the eye to determine the gaze direction.\n\n\n\nThis patent provides the foundation of the Company's core technology for head\nand face tracking. This technology is one aspect of the unique solutions\noffered by the Company for reliable and robust measurements of eye gaze\ndirection in difficult real-world environments. It is therefore a crucial\naspect of building tools and applications that work in the real world.\n\n\n\nDr Nick Cerneaz, Chief Executive, commented: 'This is a tremendously important\npatent for the Company, as it protects one of the core innovations of the\nCompany's research efforts. It is the basis of a good portion of our commercial\nsuccess to date and indeed our future planning.
