Stock Symbol: SMY Listing: Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) Outstanding Shares: 47.8 Million Web Site: www.samsys.com TORONTO, June 28 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (TSX:SMY), announced today that chief technology officer Bill Davidson is returning to his original role of providing consulting services to the company on an outsourced basis. Davidson will no longer work directly for SAMSys but will continue to assist on specific solutions and integration projects, the area that has commanded most of his attention over the last several years. He will also continue to serve on the SAMSys board and to promote SAMSys readers through third-party RFID solution consulting projects. Mike Koch, SAMSys vice president of engineering, will take over Davidson's reader development responsibilities in collaboration with the company's engineering team. That team has recently expanded significantly to address the increasing demand for RFID equipment spurred by major supply chain initiatives from organizations ranging from Wal-Mart to the U.S. Department of Defense. "Bill joined the company at a time when we were focused on proof of concept, and now we have matured to the point where our efforts are directed at building a robust and expanding product portfolio," said Cliff Horwitz, chairman, CEO and president of SAMSys Technologies Inc. "His role therefore has changed internally, and he can be equally helpful to SAMSys as an external consultant to the company as well as to firms undergoing RFID implementations that can benefit from use of our equipment." "The SAMSys engineering staff is fully equipped to handle product development moving forward, and this provides an opportune time for me to return to my roots in real-world solutions and integration consulting," Davidson said. "I intend to focus on providing integrated RFID solutions for the many companies that recognize the value of RFID technology but require support in realizing the technical details. This will also give me the opportunity to broaden applications for SAMSys hardware into new areas in supply chain management and beyond." Before joining SAMSys, Davidson was founder and president of Hamel Davidson International, an engineering services firm to which SAMSys outsourced product development projects. Hamel Davidson was bought out by SAMSys, and Davidson established an internal engineering department within SAMSys. Davidson's return to solutions and consulting will become effective July 1, 2005, with the establishment of a new RFID solutions company called RFID Resolution Team.
