SAMSys Simplifies RFID Reader Management with RAPID, New RFID Application Programming Interface for Developers

TORONTO, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY: TSX), an
international provider of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) hardware
solutions, today announced the availability of its RFID Application
Programming Interface for Developers (RAPID). The new API simplifies the
management of SAMSys RFID UHF readers by enabling developers to use familiar
Java and Microsoft .NET programming environments when writing interfaces to
their RFID middleware or custom applications for controlling reader functions.
RAPID is a high-level, easy-to-use, type-safe API that replaces the   
low-level proprietary programming language formerly required to manage SAMSys
readers. It shortens development cycles through use of Java and .NET as well
as extensive use of object-oriented properties, thus further simplifying the
deployment of the RFID network infrastructure.
"We used SAMSys' new RAPID API to enable their readers to communicate
with our distribution center pallet tracking application," said Gord Thibault,
Application Developer with TECSYS, a provider of supply chain management
software. "Without RAPID, the project would have taken us weeks if not months.
Since RAPID was designed to be easy to use, we were ready to go in just days."
Effective immediately, RAPID is included at no extra charge with SAMSys'
MP9320 v2.8 reader, the first commercially available RFID UHF reader that is
capable of reading tags that conform to the EPC Generation Two (Gen 2)
standard as well as first-generation EPC Class 0 and 0+, EPC Class 1, ISO
18000-6A, ISO 18000-6B, Philips UCODE 1.19, EM 4222 and Intellitag protocols
in the same chassis. The reader is available in a North American version as
well as worldwide versions that support frequencies for all global regulatory
environments.
SAMSys will be showcasing the new RAPID programming interface at the EPC
Global show in Atlanta from Sept. 13-15.
