SAMSys RFID module to power Paxar printer/encoders, supporting multiple tag protocols including EPC Gen 2

Embedded RFID solution supports Global requirements, provides top yield 
rates

TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY: TSX), an
international provider of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) hardware
solutions, today announced that it will supply its new embedded MP9311 RFID
UHF Reader Module for use in Monarch(R) RFID printer/encoders manufactured by
Paxar Corporation (NYSE: PXR). SAMSys' multi-protocol, multi-frequency module
will enable Paxar to meet the RFID printing/encoding needs of customers
anywhere in the world using a variety of legacy tag technologies as well as
the new EPC Generation 2.
Effective immediately, the SAMSys module will come standard in all Paxar
Monarch(R) 9855(TM) RFID tabletop bar code printers sold in the U.S. and
Europe. The printer tests and writes to RFID chips embedded in thermal direct
or transfer bar code labels, verifies that the information is correct, and
prints both the human-readable and bar code data. The product is designed for
organizations requiring RFID pallet and carton labels to comply with mandates
from major retailers and government agencies as well as to improve their
internal warehouse and distribution inventory controls.
Paxar selected the SAMSys MP9311 module for its multi-protocol and multi-
frequency capabilities, its market-leading tag read/write performance, and its
ability to maintain maximum accuracy and reliability at high speeds to ensure
fast printer throughput for end users. SAMSys' support for multiple tag
standards will permit the same printer to be used in organizations that have a
need for both legacy and Gen 2 tags. It will also allow Paxar to serve
customers utilizing disparate tag technologies without having to manufacture
and maintain multiple SKUs for its Monarch(R) 9855 RFID printer/encoder or
future models.
In addition to Gen 2 tag standards, new Paxar printers equipped with the
SAMSys module will support EPC Class 0+, EPC Class 1 and Philips UCODE 1.19.
The SAMSys solution also supports other leading UHF protocols, including
ISO 18000-6A, ISO 18000-6B, EM 4222 and Intellitag.

that can be used in any geography, as well as a North American (MP9311-N)
version that exclusively supports North American frequencies. It is compliant
with all regional regulations, has a footprint of just 2.75" x 3.75" for easy
integration into any printer, and is covered by SAMSys' 'TruBlue Gen 2'
Assurance Plan ensuring full interoperability with EPC Global and ISO
compliant UHF RFID tags.
