[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n4 June 2010\n\n GB00B39J5N63\n\n Scancell Holdings Plc \n\n (`Scancell' or the `Company') \n\n Scancell Enters Strategic Collaboration \n\n with ImmuneRegen BioSciences® \n\nScancell Holdings Plc, (PLUS:SCLP), the developer of therapeutic cancer\nvaccines, today announces a strategic collaboration with ImmuneRegen\nBioSciences, Inc.® (`ImmuneRegen'), a wholly owned subsidiary of IR BioSciences\nHoldings, Inc. (OTC BB:IRBS.OB). Under the agreement, Scancell and ImmuneRegen\nwill work together to investigate the synergy between ImmuneRegen's Homspera®\nand Scancell's ImmunoBody® vaccine technologies.\n\nScancell`s first vaccine using its patented ImmunoBody® technology is SCIB1, a\nnovel DNA vaccine being developed for the treatment of melanoma. An advantage\nof Scancell's Immunobody® platform is that it specifically targets dendritic*\ncells, leading to a significant enhancement of the immune response. This\nenhanced immune response against TRP-2 (a melanoma protein called\nTyrosinase-Related Protein 2) is expected to lead to the inhibition and\nregression of both primary and metastatic melanoma tumor growth. Scancell is on\ntrack to commence its Phase I clinical trials for SCIB1 during Q2 2010.\n\nImmuneRegen's Homspera® has previously been found to improve the efficacy of a\nTRP2 cancer vaccine in mice, resulting in persistent and specific immune\nresponses associated with inhibition of melanoma tumor growth. Additionally,\nprevious studies have demonstrated efficacy of Homspera® in enhancing immune\nresponses to infectious disease vaccines, such as influenza.\n\nHal Siegel Ph.D., ImmuneRegen's Chief Scientific Officer, commented: \"We are\nexcited to be commencing this relationship with Scancell. As ImmuneRegen and\nScancell move towards the clinic independently, we feel this is the ideal time\nto collaborate on this project, with the goal of evaluating the combination of\nScancell's dendritic cell targeting technology as applied to these melanoma\nantigens** and ImmuneRegen's Homspera®, which has shown dendritic cell\nimmunostimulatory activity via dendritic cell responses to TRP2 directed\nagainst melanoma tumors. Ideally, we could be creating a combined product that\nrepresents the `next generation' of cancer vaccine technology.\"\n\nProfessor Lindy Durrant, Chief Executive Officer of Scancell, commented:\n\"C...
