Starfire Minerals begins the first phase on the Capri uranium property in Quebec

SFR-TSX.V

VANCOUVER, May 12 /CNW/ - Starfire Minerals Inc. (TSXV:SFR) is pleased to
announce that the first phase field program on the Capri uranium property,
located in the western part of Quebec north of Ottawa-Hull, will commence the
week of Monday May 16.
The Capri property represents a prospective geological environment for
hosting low grade, large tonnage uranium deposits. The property hosts the
Capri uranium occurrence which from drilling and trenching conducted in 1976
was estimated to contain one million tons of material grading one pound/ton
U3O8 (Ministry of Natural Resources of Quebec). Starfire Minerals has not
conducted any work on the property claims. There has been insufficient
exploration to define a mineral resource and it is uncertain if exploration
will result in the discovery of a mineral resource on the properties.
Five surface showings of radioactivity have been found on the property. A
scintillometer survey on the property has outlined four broad bands of
radioactive rocks distributed across a width of 5,000 feet for a length of
8,000 feet. Within these bands a total of 33 radioactive peaks occur ranging
from 200 to 1650 c.p.s (cycles per second).
The first phase of work is designed to investigate the main mineralized
zone where work was concentrated by previous mining companies. Scintillometer
surveying, manual stripping, extensive bulldozer trenching and bulk sampling
will be the focus of the program. Particular attention will be given to the
south and north probable extensions of the main zone of uranium
mineralization. The goal is to extend the existing mineralized zones and to
delineate extensive zones of previously mapped mineralization on the property
within the potential large tonnage target area. The low grade, large tonnage
target is conceptual in nature as there has been insufficient exploration to
define a mineral resource on the property.
The Capri property is favourably located adjacent paved roads and easily
accessible for cost efficient exploration. Logging roads allow vehicle and
drill access to the moderately rolling terrain.
The field program is estimated to take a minimum of 20 field days and the
results will be announced when they become available.
On Track Exploration Ltd. has been awarded the contract to carry out the
fieldwork program.
