Red Pine Exploration Commences Exploration Program on Abitibi-West Property Near Timmins

About this update from Rpx Gold Inc.

[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nTORONTO, May 21 /CNW/ - Red Pine Exploration Inc. ("Red Pine" or the\n"Company") (TSX VENTURE:RPX) announces that its 2009 summer exploration\nprogram is presently underway with the commencement of a 925 line-kilometre\nairborne geophysical survey to be flown by Geotech Ltd.. Magnetometer, VTEM,\nand radiometric airborne surveys are being carried out over selected blocks on\nRed Pine's Abitibi-West property located southwest of Timmins, Ontario in the\nsouth central Swayze greenstone belt. The current 2009 survey will penetrate\nconsiderably deeper than past surveys and will provide position-accurate\ncontinuous data that will be useful in following up potential gold and base\nmetal targets on the Abitibi-West Property. This high-resolution airborne\ngeophysical survey will provide invaluable structural and lithological\ninformation regarding the underlying geology of the property.\n\n\nThree areas were defined within the Abitibi-West Property to be surveyed\nas an enhancement in following up positive results generated by Red Pine's\ninitial 2007 exploration program and numerous published OGS geochemical and\ngeological surveys.\n\n\nDenyes-Swayze Block\n\n\nThe Denyes-Swayze Block (413 km) covers an area southwest of the historic\nKenty Mine and includes the Kenty Porphyry as well as several interpreted\nbasinal structures hosting Timiskaming age rocks that appear similar to units\nthat are spatially associated with gold deposits in both the Porcupine and\nKirkland Lake gold camps.\n\n\nDore Block\n\n\nThe extent of the Dore Block (353 km) was designed to include areas of\nanomalous gold, base metal and PGM's resulting from Red Pine's 2007\nexploration program. In addition, the block covers several locations\nexhibiting elevated base metal concentrations and gold grain counts presented\nin published OGS lake sediment and surficial material sampling reports.\n\n\nHeenan Block\n\n\nRed Pine's 2007 trenching program and recent 2009 magnetic and induced\npolarization surveys in Heenan Township followed up on a newly discovered\ngold-bearing carbonate zone in Heenan Township. The anomalous zone occurs in\ncontact with a quartz porphyry intrusive and is proximal to Timiskaming age\nrocks and intense, pervasive potassic alteration. The Heenan AEM block (153\nkm) will expand current geophysical knowledge in ...
