Route1 Debuts Mobi Solution, a Comprehensive Remote Computing Solution, at RBC Applied Innovation Symposium

- 2005 RBC Applied Innovation Symposium, Booth No. 17 -

TORONTO, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - Route1(TM) (TSX-V:ROI), an innovator in wireless
remote computing, today will debut its groundbreaking Mobi Solution as it
joins IBM and others as a sponsor at the 2005 RBC Applied Innovation
Symposium. The invitation-only event will feature speakers and a "technology
exhibit where some of the foremost vendors in the industry will demonstrate
their latest innovations" to an RBC audience.
The Mobi Solution is a mobile thin-client that utilizes all of the
existing wireless and mobile network infrastructures available today - data
cellular, WiFi, and LAN - to give bank employees seamless and secure control
of their desktop and corporate data. The Mobi Solution comes pre-configured
with all the functionality and essential security requirements that allow
users to remotely operate their office applications, but unlike existing
remote access solutions, all applications and data with the Mobi Solution
remain safely behind the corporate firewall.
At a time when it seems work is no longer a place, but simply what we do,
Route1's solution squarely addresses the needs of both mobile workforces and
corporate requirements driven by regulatory compliance, business continuity,
and network and application integrity.
"Security concerns for wireless and mobile devices are continuing to
rise. In 2005, nearly half of recorded digital attacks will target the
wireless and mobile user," said Cheryl Currid, President, Currid & Company, a
technology advisory firm in Houston, TX. "The Mobi Solution elegantly
addresses all of the security concerns that organizations everywhere worry
about by delivering a robust pre-configured thin-client system with PKI
certificates and authentication safeguards built in."
The Mobi Solution consists of the MobiBook PRO device that is based on
hardware from Psion Teklogix, a 2.4 lbs. full-featured, solid-state,
semi-rugged handheld computer with an Intel XScale processor running Microsoft
Windows CE.NET 4.2. The system includes a resistive touch screen for pen
navigation and 58-key touch-type keyboard. It comes with an AC adapter and can
run for up to 10 hours on battery. Internet connectivity is provided via wired
Ethernet, Wi-Fi (802.11b), GSM/GPRS/EDGE or CDMA 1xRTT (an optional serial
modem is also available) and is easily upgradeable to new high-speed wireless
networks, such as WiMAX, as they become available. The system comes configured
with the MobiRemote(TM) and MobiHost(TM) applications that manage and
integrate all the necessary connections and session security, which is based
on RSA KEON and RSA BSAFE technologies, through Route1's MobiNET service.
"The groundbreaking component of the Mobi Solution is MobiNET, which is a
new paradigm for delivering remoting services," said Andrew White, CEO,
Route1. "The service is developed around our unique workSecure(TM) technology
and Seamless Workspace(TM) architecture, which keeps users persistently
connected, safely switching between networks while managing secure sessions
even in the middle of a document edit."
The MobiBook PRO is available directly from Route1 or through
MobiAlliance channel partners. It carries an SRP of $1995 CDN along with an
annual subscription of $240 to the MobiNET service.
