RJK Explorations Preparing to Drill Two Shale Gas Wells at Sept - Iles, on the North Shore, Gulf of St. Lawrence, Quebec

About this update from Rjk Explorations Ltd. Class A

[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nKIRKLAND LAKE, ON, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - RJK Explorations Ltd. (RJX.A: TSXV)\n("RJK") wishes to update the status of its Shale Gas Permits which are a part\nof the larger St. Lawrence Shale Gas Play in Quebec. RJK has 100% of 263,600\nhectares held in 13 Permits and has also optioned a 100% interest in 24,042\nhectares held in 1 Permit from Altai Resources Inc. RJK will be earning the\n100% interest in the Altai Permit by drilling a minimum of 1200 meters with\nAltai retaining a 15% Royalty.\n\n\nRJK will begin its shale gas exploration program at Sept - Iles since its\nresearch of old well drilling data has found that gas was accidentally\ndiscovered at Sept - Iles at least twice in the last 60 years and has never\nbeen followed up:\n\n\n- in 1970, a water well being drilled to supply Quebec Hydro crews hit\n gas at about 120 meters and then blew out the cement that was being\n used to plug it. After several days, the well was plugged and\n abandoned, but not before the gas was tested and analyzed as being\n 94.6% methane, 4.9% nitrogen, 0.4% ethane and 0.04% oxygen.\n- within the last month, after news of RJK's gas permits was mentioned\n in a Sept - Iles newspaper, the company was contacted by a local\n resident whose father was involved in the drilling of water well in\n the late 1940's that also hit gas. This well was very similar to the\n 1970 well and was also plugged and abandoned.\n\n\nRJK has determined the exact location of both of these wells\n(http://www.rjkexplorations.com/Sept-Iles-08-2008.pdf).\n\n\nTwo important points to note are that both wells hit gas immediately\nafter drilling through a 37 meter thick heavy clay layer lying below 70 meters\nof surface sand and that these two gas wells are located 9 km apart in the\nmiddle of a large delta area - measuring approx. 34 km by 16 km. It appears\nthat the entire delta area is underlain by these flat lying sand and heavy\nclay horizons.\n\n\nRJK has retained Bissett Resource Consultants of Calgary to supervise the\ninitial gas well drilling program and has begun the application for drilling\ntwo initial wells expected to begin drilling within the next several months.\n\n\nForward Looking Statements: This news release contains certain\nforward-looking statements. These forward-looking statements are subject to a\nvariety of risks and uncertainties beyond...
