[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nKIRKLAND LAKE, ON, June 26 /CNW/ - RJK Explorations Ltd. (RJX.A: TSXV)\n("RJK") is pleased to announce that several of the gas & oil permits it holds\nare along the north shore of the St. Lawrence near Sept. - Iles. They are\ncontiguous to and completely surround several new permits acquired by another\ncompany active in the St. Lawrence Lowlands, which has not yet announced its\npermits.\n\n\nWhile researching old well data, RJK had become aware of a well drilled\nin this area in 1970. It appears that a drilling company was in the process of\ndrilling a water well near Sept. Iles when they encountered gas, which blew\nout the hole. They immediately stopped drilling and under the direction of the\ngovernment, sealed the hole with cement. However, several days later the\npressure of the gas began forcing the cement apart so they had to cap the\nhole. The gas was analyzed at the time and is shown in the well data on the\nQuebec Ministry website to contain 94.6% methane, 4.9% nitrogen, 0.4% ethane\nand 0.04% oxygen.\n\n\nThe geological rock cover shown for this immediate area on the Quebec\nMinistry of Resources Geological Map is classified as Mafic to Ultramafic\nRocks - Anorthosite and gabbronorite. Normally, this type of rock cover would\nnot indicate gas or oil. However, because of the accidental gas strike, we\nknow there is gas below it in this area. For this reason, RJK has moved to\nacquire most of acreage in the immediate area of the well at Sept. Iles,\nexcept for that acquired by the other company.\n\n\nAs the gas was encountered at a fairly shallow depth, it is RJK's belief\nthat the gas would have migrated up from a deeper horizon and has probably\nbeen kept in place by a clay layer as is the case for a number of the shallow\ngas wells that have been drilled in the St. Lawrence Lowlands. A map showing\nRJK's permits at Sept. - Iles will be posted on the company website tomorrow\nin order to take into account today's release of new, updated permit maps by\nthe Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources.\n\n\nForward Looking Statements: This news release contains certain\nforward-looking statements. These forward-looking statements are subject to a\nvariety of risks and uncertainties beyond RJK's ability to control or predict\nwhich could cause actual events or results to differ materially from those\nant...
