[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nTSX Exchange Symbol: RVX\n\n\nCALGARY, Oct. 21 /CNW/ - Resverlogix Corp. ("Resverlogix") (TSX:RVX)\nannounced today that the ongoing double blind placebo controlled Phase 1b/2a\nstudy in subjects with normal and low HDL is progressing as planned. The\nsubjects in the first group receiving a low dose of RVX-208 show safety and\ntolerability. Thus the safety committee the has made a decision to commence\nthe next cohort in which 24 subjects will receive treatment doses escalating\neach week, for a total of 4 weeks.\n\n\nDonald J. McCaffrey, President and CEO of Resverlogix stated, "We are\nvery pleased to be able to share this exciting clinical information with the\nClinical Advisory Board at the American Heart Association meeting on\nNovember 8th."\n\n\nResverlogix will give an oral presentation during the American Heart\nAssociation Scientific Sessions meeting in November 2008 where the Company\nwill present novel data for RVX-208 to attendees. Due to the nature of double\nblinded clinical trials and strict embargo rules set by the American Heart\nAssociation, data from this Phase 1b/2a clinical trial will not be presented\nin full until the completion of the trial.\n\n\nAbout RVX-208\n\n\nRVX-208, a novel small molecule therapeutic that facilitates endogenous\nApoA-I production, is positioned to be one of the most promising emerging\ndrugs in the treatment of atherosclerosis. To the Company's knowledge RVX-208\nis the only novel small molecule that is specifically designed to increase\nApoA-I production and thereby raise HDL levels thus enhancing HDL\nfunctionality to augment reverse cholesterol transport (RCT).\n\n\nRCT is a pathway by which accumulated cholesterol is transported from the\narterial wall to the liver for excretion, thus preventing atherosclerosis.\nMajor constituents of RCT include acceptors such as high-density lipoprotein\n(HDL) and apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I). A critical part of RCT is cholesterol\nefflux, in which accumulated cholesterol is removed from macrophages.\n\n\nAbout Resverlogix Corp.\n\n\nResverlogix Corp. is a leading biotechnology company engaged in the\ndevelopment of novel therapies for important global medical markets with\nsignificant unmet needs. The NexVas(TM) program is the Company's primary focus\nwhich is to develop novel small molecules that enhance ApoA-I....
