[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\"RVX-208 decreases Major Adverse Cardiac Events (MACE) in patients with\n systemic inflammation\"\n\n\nTSX Exchange Symbol: RVX\n\n\nCALGARY, March 31, 2014 /CNW/ - Resverlogix Corp. (TSX: RVX) today\n announced that ASSURE data will be presented at the ACC conference in\n Washington DC. The poster titled \"Effects of an Apolipoprotein A-1\n Inducer on Progression of Coronary Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular\n Events in Patients with Elevated Inflammatory Markers\" will be\n presented by Rishi Puri, Medical Director of Cleveland Clinic\n Atherosclerosis Imaging Core Laboratory. The poster authored by Rishi\n Puri, Yu Kataoka, Kathy Wolski, Allan Gordon, Jan Johansson, Norman\n Wong, Steven Nissen and Stephen Nicholls showed favorable effects of\n the apoA-I inducer RVX-208 on coronary disease progression and MACE. In\n patients with signs of systemic inflammation as indicated by a high\n sensitive C-reactive protein higher than 2mg/L, 6.9% of the RVX-208\n treated patients had a Major Adverse Cardiac Event vs. 18.9% for the\n placebo treated patients (p<0.02). The prevention of cardiac events is\n the ultimate goal of treatment.\n\n\n\"We are very enthusiastic about the positive results from the ASSURE\n study on Major Adverse Cardiac Events in patients with signs of\n systemic inflammation. Seeing MACE reductions in phase 2 is an\n important signal and warrants confirmation in prospective studies,\"\n stated Donald McCaffrey, President and Chief Executive Officer of\n Resverlogix.\n\n\nResverlogix is also proud to announce completion of the treatment phase\n of its diabetes study \"Phase 2 randomised, double-blind,\n placebo-controlled, cross-over study for the assessment of glucose\n metabolism changes with RVX-208 in individuals with pre-diabetes\". \n Based on the hypothesis that ApoA-I has anti-diabetic actions, the\n objective of the trial is to show improved glucose balance by RVX-208\n treatment, a drug known to induce ApoA-I production. This trial was\n coordinated by the principal investigators Professor Bronwyn Kingwell,\n Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes Institute and Dr. Stephen Duffy, The Alfred\n Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Diabetes is a major cause of\n cardiovascular disease and beneficial effects of RVX-208 on Diabetes\n would provide additional treatment benefit in the treatment of Diabetes\...
