("Resverlogix" or the\n"Company") (TSX:RVX) is pleased to announce that Dr. Norman Wong presented key\nclinical data pertaining to its lead compound, RVX-208, at the European\nSociety Cardiology (ESC) 2008 Congress in Munich. The presentation titled\n"RVX-208 a novel small molecule that increases apolipoprotein A-I enters into\nhuman clinical trials" was delivered on August 31, 2008. In addition to this\npresentation, other important data relating to RVX-208 from Resverlogix's\nextensive data portfolio was presented by Dr. Jacques Genest of McGill\nUniversity and Dr. Stephen Nicholls of the Cleveland Clinic, at the same\nconference.\n\n\n"Over the past year, the scientific community has pushed to the forefront\nthe importance of a small molecule in the form of an oral tablet that\nsignificantly increases ApoA-I production, HDL functionality and thereby\ntreats atherosclerosis cardiovascular disease," stated Dr. Jan Johansson,\nSenior Vice President Medical Affairs Resverlogix. Johansson further added,\n"The ESC is a well regarded scientific meeting as well as one of the largest\nwith an estimated 25,000 participants. We are pleased to have presented our\ndata to this esteemed audience."\n\n\nApolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I), the main component of high-density\nlipoprotein (HDL) represent the body's natural defense system against\natherosclerosis by mediating reverse cholesterol transport, i.e. transport of\nperipheral cholesterol including that of the vessel wall to the liver for\nelimination from the body. In multiple human and animal studies\nover-expression or repeated infusion of ApoA-I inhibit progression and induce\nregression of atherosclerosis in animals and humans.\n\n\nRVX-208, a novel small molecule drug that facilitates endogenous ApoA-I\nproduction, is positioned as an emerging drug that holds the most promise for\nthe treatment of atherosclerosis. RVX-208 is designed to increase ApoA-I\nproduction and thereby raise HDL levels thus enhancing HDL functionality to\naugment reverse cholesterol transport.\n\n\nAbout Resverlogix Corp.\n\n\nResverlogix Corp. is a leading biotechnology company engaged in the\ndevelopment of novel therapies for im...
