[{"type":"text","content":"\n Radstone Technology PLC\n11 November 2005\n\n\nImmediate Release 11 November 2005\n\n Radstone Technology PLC (\"Radstone\")\n\n $12 Million Contract Extension\n\n \"Further demonstration of Radstone's leadership in rugged, commercial\n off-the-shelf (COTS) computing technology\"\n\nFollowing clearance from its customer, Radstone Technology PLC (LSE:RST), the\nworld's leading independent supplier of high-performance, embedded computer\nproducts for defence and aerospace applications is pleased to announce that in\nSeptember 2005 it received an extension to the existing ATFLIR contract from the\nRaytheon Company.\n\nThe contract extension is scheduled for delivery over the next five years, and\nhas a net additional value to Radstone of approximately $12 million.\n\nThe ATFLIR (Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infra Red) systems contract was\noriginally granted from Raytheon in June 1998 and requires Radstone to supply\ntheir PPC4A single board computer, MIL STD 1553 interfaces and Fibre Channel\nmodules for incorporation into Raytheon's 521 ATFLIR pods.\n\nWith its enhanced target detection and recognition range, ATFLIR substantially\nextends the capability and survivability of the US Navy's F/A-18 Hornet fighter\naircraft squadrons worldwide. Among its benefits is delivery of a substantial\nincrease in target detection/recognition range over first-generation systems,\nand pinpoint accuracy and assessment from longer standoff ranges. Its target\ndetection range shows a four-fold improvement over previous systems, and laser\ndesignation is effective at altitudes up to 50,000 feet and at a slant range of\ngreater than 30 miles. These features enhance F/A-18 aircrew survivability,\nallowing the pilot and weapon systems operator to strike from safer distances.\n\nJeff Perrin, Chief Executive of Radstone Technology PLC, commented :\n\n\"This latest order is a further demonstration of Radstone's leadership in\nrugged, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) computing technology - and also of the\nexcellent long term working relationship we have with Raytheon.\n\nATFLIR's multifunctionality, its versatility and its interoperability are\ncharacteristic of the latest generation of systems designed for network-centric\nwarfare, the goal of which is to deliver battlefield advantage through superior\ninformation acquisition and communication.
