Over 90% of their funding comes\n from The Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy.\n \n\n One of the major concerns of citizens, government and industry is the\n protection of groundwater. The report calculates that the chances of\n hydraulic fracturing impacting an aquifer are, "less than one in two\n hundred million." It states that the process varies very little from\n conventional drilling and that it, "has not introduced new environmental\n concerns."\n \n\n "The report supports what we have been saying all along; hydraulic\n fracturing does not affect aquifers and the best way to protect\n groundwater is with high quality casing, good cement and proper\n water-handling procedures. This is the case with any well that is\n drilled, whether it be an oil well, a natural gas well, or a water\n well," says Binnion.\n \n\n The report also addresses the regulatory environment in the United\n States. In Québec the industry is regulated by several acts and\n regulations. They include : the Mining Act, the Forestry Act, the law on\n the prote...
