(\"PyroGenesis\"\n or the \"Company\") (TSX-V: PYR), an environmental solutions company that\n designs, develops and manufactures plasma waste-to-energy systems and\n plasma torch products, announced today that the U.S. Air Force Special\n Operations Command (AFSOC) has accepted Pyrogenesis' Plasma Resource\n Recovery System (PRRS).\n\n\nThe Company also announced that it has received a follow-on contract\n from AFSOC to operate the PRRS for an initial three-and-a-half month\n period at Hurlburt Field, Florida, the Air Force base where the system\n is currently located.\n\n\n\"This is history in the making,\" said Terry Yonkers, assistant secretary\n of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Logistics. \"This is\n the first waste-to-energy project of this technology to go into an air\n base. It has been a long time in the making.\"\n\n\n\"The PRRS acceptance and follow-on contract validates the utility of the\n gasification technology in a commercial, land-based setting and permits\n the Company to further optimize the system in-situ,\" said P. Peter\n Pascali, President and Chief Executive Officer of PyroGenesis. \"The\n fact that this success was achieved with such a discerning client\n demonstrates the quality standards we are able to attain, in a\n commercial setting, and the great potential for our system in the\n market. We are confident we will follow up with a longer-term United\n States Air Force operations agreement.\"\n\n\nPyroGenesis' plasma waste-to-energy system has been in operation at the\n Florida base since late last year.\n\n\n\"This is a project we have been working diligently on, and to see it\n recognized and operating is fulfilling and gratifying,\" said George\n \"Ron\" Omley, AFSOC Environmental chief. \"I look forward to seeing this\n technology gain wider acceptance.\"\n\n\nThe Company believes the technology at the Hurlburt Field, Florida site\n is the only operating commercial plasma gasification facility in North\n America that has successfully demonstrated the ability to convert\n unsorted municipal solid waste into electricity. The PRRS system is\n designed to convert hazardous and non-hazardous waste into electricity\n and a glassy rock, which can be used as a construction material.\n\n\nAbout PyroGenesis Canada Inc.\nP...
