About this update from Protokinetix, Inc.

[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n ProtoKinetix, \n Incorporated (OTC:PKTX) (the \"Company\" or \"ProtoKinetix\") (www.protokinetix.com) \n today announces that it has completed the first year of retinal \n replacement therapy trials on animals and the results are encouraging \n enough to proceed to a second phase of testing.\n \n \n There are several diseases that, over time, destroy retinal cells \n ultimately causing blindness. These diseases include Age Related Macular \n Degeneration (AMD), Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), and Stargardt disease. To \n date there are no effective treatments. Stem cell therapy has been \n viewed as a very exciting potential avenue that may allow the \n replacement or repair of these damaged retinal cells.\n \n \n About \n Age Related Macular Degeneration\n \n \n About \n Retinitis Pigmentosa\n \n \n About \n Stargardt Disease\n \n \n The study conducted by the Gregory-Evans Retinal Therapeutic Lab at the \n University of British Columbia compared the results of transplanted \n retinal precursor cells with and without the addition of AAGP™. The \n cells treated with AAGP™ showed an improvement on cell survivability and \n viability compared to the untreated cells. Ongoing testing is now being \n conducted to determine if these transplanted cells are fully functioning.\n \n \n Dr. \n Gregory-Evans Bio\n \n \n The results of these tests have serious implications for the treatment \n of other diseases that may benefit from stem cell transplant such as \n spinal cord injury and the repair of brain damage from stroke. The \n Company will be exploring the potential of these protocols and \n procedures using AAGP™ on brain damage caused by ischemic stroke in the \n coming months.\n \n \n About ProtoKinetix, Incorporated\n \n \n ProtoKinetix is a molecular biotechnology company that has developed and \n patented a family of hyper stable, potent glycopeptides (AAGP™) that \n enhance both engraftment and protection of transplanted cells used in \n regenerative medicine.\n \n \n To subscribe to e-mail updates please follow the following link: Protokinetix.com\n \n \n Cautionary Note Regarding Forward-Looking Statements\n \n \n The information discussed in this press release includes “forward \n looking statements” within the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities \n Act of 1933 (the “Securities ...
