[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n PROTEOME SCIENCES plc \n\n PRESS RELEASE \n\nFor immediate release 18th July, 2006\n\n PROTEOME SCIENCES APPOINTS \n\n CHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER \n\nProteome Sciences plc (\"Proteome Sciences\" or \"the Company\") is pleased to\nannounce that Dr. Peter Schulz-Knappe will join the Company on 1st August, 2006\nas Research and Development Director/CSO. Dr. Schulz-Knappe will be splitting\nhis responsibilities between the Company's Head Office in Cobham and its\nlaboratories in Frankfurt and London.\n\nPrior to its takeover by Digilab LLC in February 2006, Dr. Schulz-Knappe was\nCSO and founder of BioVision GmbH (\"BioVision\"), a company that has used mass\nspectrometry to quantify and sequence biomarkers in pharmacogenomics and\npersonalised medicine through differential peptide display (peptidomics).\n\nFormally Head of the Department at the Lower Saxony Institute of Peptide\nChemistry, Dr. Schulz-Knappe worked in cell biology and peptide and protein\nrelated science for 20 years and established a large network within the pharma,\ndiagnostics and biotech industries. These have included strategic research\nalliances with many majors including Abbott, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Astra\nZeneca and Roche.\n\nCommenting on the appointment of Dr. Schulz-Knappe, Christopher Pearce, Chief\nExecutive of Proteome Sciences said:\n\n\"We are delighted that Dr. Schulz-Knappe will be joining us at this exciting\nstage of our development.
