This represents a 7.6% increase on a per share\nbasis.\nGrowth in operating earnings reflects primarily an increase of 6.7% in\nthe contribution from the Corporation's subsidiaries, as well as higher\ninvestment income in 2005\nOther income was nil in 2006, compared with $1 million in the first\nquarter of 2005.\nAs a result, net earnings for the period were $254 million or $0.54 per\nshare, compared with $232 million or $0.50 per share in the first quarter of\n2005.\n\nRESULTS OF POWER FINANCIAL CORPORATION\n--------------------------------------\n\nPower Financial Corporation's operating earnings for the three-month\nperiod ended March 31, 2006 were $408 million or $0.56 per share, compared\nwith $381 million or $0.52 per share in the corresponding period in 2005.
