Porvair announces gasification collaboration
Porvair today announces that it has signed an agreement to participate in a $2.5
million project for the gasification of lignite coals to produce liquid fuels,
hydrogen, and power, as well as carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery.
The project, lead by the Energy & Environmental Research Center at University of
North Dakota, is being co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Porvair is one of a number of industrial consortium partners involved in the
project, which includes U.S. utilities and coal companies.
One of the key objectives of the program is to develop a high temperature gas
clean up of particulate, sulphur, mercury and trace elements and it is primarily
in this area that Porvair will concentrate.
Ben Stocks, CEO of Porvair plc said:
'We are delighted to have signed this collaboration agreement. This project will
further Porvair's experience and market leading position in the hot gas clean-up
market. Gasification clean-up is one of our key growth opportunities and is an
important technology to enable the world's plentiful coal resources to be used
in a clean and efficient way.'
