Porvair plc ('Porvair')
Participation in EU Greensyngas Project
Porvair plc ('Porvair'), the specialist filtration and environmental technology
group, is pleased to announce its participation in GREENSYNGAS, a €6.7 million
three year project funded by the European Commission under its 7th Framework
Program. The project team comprises several academic, research and commercial
organisations and Porvair's involvement highlights its strong position in the
increasingly busy gasification sector.
The project will develop and demonstrate advanced synthesis gas cleaning
technologies based on both the physical separation and chemical conversion of
product gas derived from biomass gasification. The purified 'syngas' cleaned by
these processes will be suitable for a number of downstream applications
including conversion into synthetic biofuels for the transport sector; hydrogen;
or electricity generation with carbon capture and sequestration.
Ben Stocks Chief Executive of Porvair commented:
'We are delighted to be a founder member of the Greensyngas project. Its focus
on biomass adds to Porvair's existing experience with various forms of coal and
petcoke. Gasification of such materials is a fast growing and active market. We
are very busy in this field with work underway for a range of commercial
partners as well as the US Department of Energy and two of the major oil
companies. Our latest commercial order will ship in the first half of 2008.'
