[{"type":"text","content":"\n Porvair PLC\n1 December 2000\n\n\nImmediate Release 1 December 2000\n\n\n\n Porvair plc\n\n US Patent Awarded\n Porvair reaffirms commitment to fuel cell technology\n\nPorvair plc, the advanced materials group, today announces the award of a US\npatent for its novel microporous material - Micromass TM. This material\noffers wide ranging potential applications, including for fuel cell and fuel\nreforming componentry.\n\nFuel Cell and fuel reforming technology is fast developing, and uses a range\nof porous and microporous materials. Porvair's expertise in microporosity is\nhelping to find solutions to problems encountered by fuel cell developers in\nheat exchange, catalyst substrate, emission and moisture control applications.\nMost of Porvair's activity in this field is proprietary either to Porvair or\nto their clients, among whom are International Fuel Cells, Nuvera, Shell\nHydrogen and two major automotive manufacturers.\n\nIt is recognised that fuel cell technology is not expected to become\ncommercial for several years, making this an attractive medium term prospect\nfor the Group. Porvair's materials expertise, intellectual property position,\nquality assurance record and mass production capability position the Group\nwell for the future.\n\nPorvair sees a range of opportunities in this area, and are finalising\nincreased R&D investment plans for the year ahead.
