The installation of Pioneering's SmartBurner enables DHA to provide its residents with protection from stovetop cooking fires (the # 1 cause of home and apartment fires in the United States), while also enjoying a reduction in energy consumption. The savings generated from the installation of the SmartBurners is expected to offset the cost of the installation of the product and deliver a positive return on investment for DHA. \"The SmartBurner is a natural facility improvement measure, delivering both fire prevention and energy efficiency,\" said Jim DiPaolo, Deputy CFO for DHA. The successful results of this pilot project have resulted in Denver Housing rolling the technology out across its portfolio by including Pioneering's SmartBurner in its most recent sustainability/revitalization project.
