Known as 'flying cameras', the UAS have a stabilised video camera attached and are controlled by the user on the ground via remote control. The cameras are capable of capturing approximately 25 minutes of footage per flight and flying up to 700 meters in the air. \n \nAs part of the product development programme, DJI were looking for a system to capture the movements of the UAS, and feedback high precision data to inform research and development efforts in engine design, prototyping and flight systems. Vicon's T40S system was chosen over others in the market as it can capture movement outdoors at high-speed (needed for the UAS propellers) as well as deliver data with sub-millimetre precision. \n \nDJI is dedicated to making aerial photography and videography accessible to professional photographers, cinematographers and hobbyists. The BBC recently reported one of their camera crew were using DJI's S800 Hexcopter to capture world events from a completely different perspective.\n \nGary Zhou, Engineer of DJI, said:\n \n\"Our main aim is to guarantee the overall reliability and performance of DJI products. Not only does the Vicon system enable us to capture the movement of the UAS propellers which move at very high speeds, it also allows us to detect the smallest changes in material distortion, and provides us with precise, verifiable measurements we couldn't have recorded before.\" \n \nNick Bolton, CEO of OMG, commented:\n \n\"DJI is a great new client for Vicon and this win is a further testament to the strength and adaptability of our technology.
