(\n \n \n TSXV:OTC) (“\n \n \n Ocumetics\n \n \n ”) is pleased to announce that it\nhas commenced the first phase of a clinical trial program for its\ninitial product, the Bionic Lens.\n \n \n \n \n “We’ve been busy since our successful financing and\nreverse takeover of a public shell in August,” says\n \n \n Dr. Mark Lee, President and CEO of Ocumetics.\n \n \n \n \n “After 14 years of research and development, our\nfounder, Dr. Garth Webb, recently finalized the design of the two\nprimary components of the Bionic Lens, the lens retainer and the lens\nitself,” adds Dr. Lee. “We subsequently engaged with a partner to\ndesign the tooling to be used to fabricate the Bionic Lens components.\nWith the tooling design completed, our partner has fabricated\nsufficient prototype retainers to commence our pilot studies.”\n \n \n \n \n ‘We are delighted to have now entered this first\nphase of the clinical trials process for the retainer component of the\nBionic Lens,” adds Dr. Lee. “Ocumetics will be providing regular\nupdates, as we complete each successive phase of the clinical\ntrials.”\n \n \n \n \n Dr. Garth Webb, Founder, Chief Scientific Officer and\nChairman of the Board of Ocumetics, developed the Bionic Lens to\naddress many of the shortcomings of lens replacement options he\nobserved in his professional practice with patients undergoing\ncataract and other procedures.
