As reported on DR1.com, the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has warned that the quality of cell phone services in the Dominican Republic is declining. Jose Rafael Vargas, president of Indotel, said “the office plans to conduct an in-depth study with foreign consultants to examine the quality of mobile communications and the Internet networks to establish what actions and corrections are needed to be made, as reported in Hoy.” The report continues; “Vargas, who has been elected as senator for Espaillat (Moca), warned that there has been deterioration in the country's mobile services. He made the comment when calling it \"one of the dark points\" in the celebration of the 15 years of Internet service in the DR. \"We have gone from having one of the best communication networks to one of the worst communication networks; that is the threat, and the great challenge, that is the dark side of what we celebrate today,\" stated Jose Rafael Vargas, president of Indotel.
