TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - Nuinsco Resources (NWI:TSX) announces today the scheduling of a diamond drilling program, to begin early in the third quarter, at its Berta copper-gold project. The property has displayed positive soil and rock sampling anomalies during the 2003 through 2005 exploration programs. The recently completed 2005 geochemical sampling program has better defined the property's high potential areas. The upcoming diamond drill program will target the identified geochemical anomalies. The property is under option from Noranda Inc. and is located in the Artvin area of northeastern Turkey. Nuinsco has committed to US$300,000 in expenditures on the property in 2005. The receipt of continued promising geochemical results from the Berta copper-gold project only serves to strengthen Nuinsco's property portfolio. Previous soil sampling programs have identified broad domains to the north, centre and south of the Berta alteration system as being significantly anomalous in copper and gold. The system covers a 15 km2 area, entirely encompassed by the 59.5 km2 project licences. 967 soil samples have been collected to date, and the recently completed 2005 sampling program, consisting of 246 samples, confirmed previous findings. The 2005 program provided additional support where copper ranging from 7ppm to 4620ppm and gold ranging from 4ppb to 4770ppb was obtained. Considered of great importance are the 204 rock samples collected on the project so far, which produce anomalies coincident with the soil results and thus provide additional support for diamond drill targets. The north, east and south of the system will become a focus for additional work and diamond drilling based upon the sample results. The Berta Project, approximately 50 km south of the Black Sea coast in northeastern Turkey, lies within the prolifically mineralized Pontide Mountains metallogenetic belt. The licences encompass a large domain of extensively altered and sulphide mineralized dacite volcanic and intrusive rocks occurring in rugged terrain displaying approximately 1,500 m of vertical relief. Extensive rusty exposures are common, formed from oxidation of sulphides at surface. The total volume of rock affected by the alteration and mineralisation within the Berta system is considerable, with mineralized exposures observed over 1,000 m of vertical elevation. Noranda is acting as the operator of the project and conducted the work reported. The program is being supervised for Nuinsco by Paul Jones, V.P. Exploration, who under Nation Instrument 43-101 is Nuinsco's Qualified Person. All samples were analyzed by ALS Chemex, Vancouver with sample preparation done at Izmir, Turkey. Nuinsco is an exploration and development company with the very prospective Diabase Peninsula uranium property in Saskatchewan, advanced nickel projects in Manitoba and Quebec, gold projects in Ontario and base metal projects in Ontario and Turkey.
