TSX: NWI TORONTO, Sept. 1 /CNW/ - Nuinsco is initiating a backhoe trenching program on its Muriel Lake Property, 75 km north of Geraldton, to test the hypothesis that sulphide mineralization is the source of the two strong anomalous east-west UTEM (December 2004) responses traversing the centre and south part of the claim group. Nuinsco prospecting crews earlier this year visited the numerous outcrops, and untested anomalous copper mineralization showings on the property in order to plan the trenching program. Samples collected yield 24ppm to 9740ppm Cu (40% of samples assay greater than 500ppm Cu.) All samples were analysed by Accurassay Laboratories in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Locally anomalous Au and Ag are also reported from the samples. Several massive and stringer sulphide showings occur on the property, associated with variably altered volcanic rocks, and comprise pyrite and pyrrhotite with variable amounts of chalcopyrite and sphalerite. Historic sampling from local showings have produced a wide range of anomalous values that peak at 16.22% Cu from the J.J. Perry Trench and 5.8% Zn from the Galena Vein Trench. Prospecting in the region dating to the 1920s has identified numerous Cu-Zn-Au-Ag base metal showings but little exploration has been conducted until recently, allowing considerable scope for a work program employing modern exploration techniques. Concurrently Nuinsco is: - drilling its Berta Cu-Au porphyry property in Turkey, - completing prospecting and aerial geophysical survey work on its Diabase Peninsula Uranium property in the Saskatchewan Athabasca Basin, and - completing engineering and metallurgical work on its Minago nickel deposit in Manitoba The results of this work are pending and will be released as they become available.
