Nuinsco commences drilling program at Berta property

TORONTO, July 27 /CNW/ - Nuinsco Resources Limited (NWI: TSX) is pleased
to announce the commencement of diamond drilling at Falconbridge Limited's
Berta porphyry copper- gold project in Turkey. The 1,000 meter drill program
started on July 22 and is the last part of Nuinsco's earn-in to 50% on the
project. The program is focused on widespread copper and gold anomalies
identified in earlier soil and rock sampling programs and geological mapping.
An extensive alteration system, outlined by a total of 967 soil samples in a
15 square kilometre project featured three areas of exceptionally anomalous
copper and gold. These target areas are defined by copper greater than 450 ppm
and/or by 300 ppb gold from samples taken at 100 metre spacing. Numerous
samples, however, exceed 1,000 ppm copper and up to 3.5 ppm gold have been
obtained (including one exceptional value of 12.8 ppm gold).
The property is located approximately 50 kilometers south of the Black
Sea in northeastern Turkey. It lies within the prolifically mineralized
Pontide Mountains metallogenic belt.
Brian E. Robertson, President said, "We are pleased with the rapid
advancement to the drilling stage for this high priority project and impressed
with the efficiency of the permitting process. As detailed in earlier Press
Releases, this is a large porphyry system located in a prolifically
mineralized belt with excellent soil sampling and results. In a number of
areas near surface, copper mineralization has already been identified on the
property. Given current high copper and gold prices, the drilling of the
property is timed with a hospitable atmosphere for emerging copper- gold
porphyry properties."
The licenses encompass a large area of extensively altered and sulphide
mineralized dacite volcanic and intrusive rocks in rugged terrain displaying
approximately 1,550 metres of vertical relief. The total volume of rock
affected by the alteration and mineralization within the Berta system is
considerable, with mineral exposure observed over 1,000 metres of vertical
elevation.
