Located in Lake Huron, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater\n island in the world. The McLean's Mountain Wind Farm will provide 60\n megawatts (MW) of power to the grid. The project is a 50/50 partnership\n between Northland Power Inc. (TSX: NPI) and Mnidoo Mnising Power (MMP).\n\n\n\"This wind farm will provide renewable energy to Ontario while\n respecting the environment and creating resources to strengthen the\n United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising communities. Recognizing\n the unique topography of Manitoulin island, we ultimately decided that\n GE's 2.85-103 model wind turbines were the best fit to meet the project\n requirements,\" said John Brace, CEO of Northland Power, one of Canada's\n leading independent power producers.\n\n\nGE will provide operations and maintenance through a 10-year full service agreement for the McLean's Mountain Wind Farm. The facility will benefit from\n around-the-clock remote monitoring and diagnostics through GE's global\n wind monitoring center in Schenectady, N.Y., which also will help\n maximize wind turbine operating performance and life.\n\n\n\"GE is pleased to work with Northland Power and its partner Mnidoo\n Mnising Power and is committed to supporting the growth of renewable\n energy in Canada. As of 2013, we have installed 1.8 gigawatts of wind\n power in Canada, which accounts for 29 percent of Canada's total\n installed base.
