[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nVANCOUVER, Sept. 13 /CNW/ - Norsemont Mining Inc. (\"Norsemont\") \n(TSX-V: NOM; Frankfurt: A0DQKK) is pleased to announce further details on its\nrecently acquired Amata Silver-Gold-Copper project from Rio Tinto Mining and\nExploration Ltd. (\"Rio Tinto\") (NYSE: RTP) as previously announced on\nSeptember 9, 2005. Norsemont has acquired a 100% interest in the Amata Project\n(10,300 hectares) located 50km NE of Arequipa City in southern Peru.\nThe Amata high sulphidation epithermal system and associated porphyries\nare located in the Cordillera of southern Peru. Sampling of 3,078 rock chip\nand grab samples include anomalies grading up to 2,400 g/t of silver and up to\n7.2 g/t of gold, to values below detection.\nIn 2002 and 2003 Rio Tinto completed a two-staged drill program\nconsisting of 15 widely-spaced holes (within 2km), of which the most\nencouraging results include:\n\nCerro Amata:\nAM-01 : 317.80m (at) 31.7 g/t Ag, 0.11 g/t Au\n\nIncludes: 41.95m (at) 61.3 g/t Ag, 0.24 g/t Au\n 48.10m (at) 36.7 g/t Ag, 0.28 g/t Au\n\nAM-02 : 100.25m (at) 1.11% Cu, 0.16 g/t Au ,19.55 g/t Ag\n\nAM-03 : 2m (at) 3.08% Cu, 12.85 g/t Ag\n 2.35m (at) 0.80% Cu, 22.5 g/t Ag\n\nAM-04 : 118m (at) 0.11 % Cu, 13.08 g/t Ag\n\nIncludes: 4m (at) 52.45 g/t Ag\n\nAM-05 : 2m (at) 783 g/t Ag, 0.14% Cu\n\nTincachoca:\nTQ-02: 26.8 m (at) 2.6% Cu, 0.42 g/t Au, 45 g/t Ag\n\nTacune:\nTN-01: 22.2m (at) 0.047% Mo, 0.01 g/t Au\n 13.75m (at) 0.039% Mo, 0.03 g/t Au\nTN-02: 3.95m (at) 0.09% Mo\nTN-03: 64m (at) 0.33 % Cu\n\nBased on alteration mapping and surface geochemistry, six principal\ntargets have been identified (Cerro Amata, Tincachoca, Cayrane, Tacune,\nTrinchera and Palcamayo) that vary from about 15 hectares (500 m x 300 m) to\n120 hectares (1.2 km x 1 km) in size. The Cerro Amata target contains a\ncentral diatreme breccia body that has a surface dimension of approximately\n600 x 300 m. North of Palcamayo and the Apacheta (7th target) sector are yet\nto be explored. Norsemont believes there is potential to expand the zones of\nmineralization and identify additional zones of high grade precious metals in\nthe epithermal lithocap or copper in the underlying porphyry.\nThe oldest rocks in the area correspond to rocks of the coastal batholith\n(544Ma) which are overlain by Yura group sediments. The prospect is situated\nwithin the volcanic complex o...
