Colorado's Proposed Organic Cannabis Certification May Boost NTRR's Bottom Line

If a new bill is passed, Colorado consumers could soon have the option to purchase pesticide-free, “certified organic” cannabis products, and Neutra Corp. (OTCQB: NTRR) is working hard to provide products that can potentially help growers in the state meet chemical-free guidelines.

The bill is scheduled for its first hearing on Friday. The legislation would prompt Colorado’s department of agriculture to create specific guidelines for a “pesticide-free cannabis certification program” by which growers could have their crops labeled “organic” by the state. It’s the latest step in Colorado’s escalating efforts to resolve consumer concerns over pesticide usage in the cannabis industry since voters approved adult use in 2012. Last year, government officials ordered a hold on cannabis plants at multiple facilities there, and Denver health authorities recently seized thousands of plants from growers suspected of using off-limits chemicals on their crops.

“Consumers want to know what chemicals they may or may not be ingesting when they legally purchase cannabis products,” said NTRR CEO Chris Brown. “That’s why Colorado, which has always been at the industry’s leading edge, is considering instituting guidelines for organic products in the state. There is a proven market for organic consumables in the food and beverage industries, and we have little doubt that organic cannabis would prove a popular option, as well.”

That’s why NTRR is working to be a part of the solution. The company is marketing new, potentially healthier alternatives to harsh chemicals in cannabis cultivation. Alongside joint venture partner Surface to Air Solutions (S2O2), NTRR offers cannabis growers and other businesses a suite of horticultural products—including a plant stimulant, an air-scrubber and a self-cleaning hard surface treatment—that can help indoor crops thrive without the use of pesticides and fungicides. Some are already in use by growers in the United States and Canada.
