[{"type":"text","content":"\n Evolutec Group PLC\n27 February 2006\n\n\nFor immediate release 27 February 2006\n\n\n\nEVOLUTEC GROUP PLC\n\n ('Evolutec' or 'Company')\n\n\n\n POSITIVE PHARMACOKINETIC PROFILE FOR rEV131\n\n\n\n Further details in analyst briefing and webcast of Evolutec's results for the\n year ended 31 December 2005 to be announced on 28 February 2006\n\n\n\nEvolutec Group plc (AIM: EVC), the biopharmaceutical company developing novel\nproducts for the treatment of allergic, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, is\npleased to announce a positive preclinical metabolic result for its lead\nmolecule, rEV131.\n\n\n\nThis study demonstrates that rEV131 has a favourable pharmacokinetic profile\nincluding:\n\n\n\n • a circulating half-life of approximately 8 hours;\n • uniform tissue distribution; and\n • 95 per cent clearance from the body via the renal route within 24 hours.\n\n\n\nThis profile is well suited for a drug intended for use once or twice a day in\nindications such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and asthma. Furthermore, the\ntrial showed that rEV131 does not cross the blood brain barrier, reducing the\npossibility of unwanted effects such as drowsiness.\n\n\n\nMark Carnegie Brown, Evolutec's Chief Executive Officer, commented: 'This result\nunderpins the potential of rEV131, our lead drug product candidate.
