[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrewer celebrates 225 years of history with pledge of support for museum expansion project \n\n\nMONTREAL, Sept. 14, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Molson Coors donated yesterday\n an amount of $325 000 to Pointe-à-Callière Foundation in support of the\n planned expansion of the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History.\n The company thus becomes one of the first private donors to pledge\n support for this important cultural initiative in the heart of\n Montreal. The announcement was made in the presence of brothers\n Andrew and Geoff Molson, Dave Perkins, President and Chief Executive\n Officer of Molson Coors Canada, Francine Lelièvre, Executive Director\n of Pointe-à-Callière Museum, and a host of dignitaries. The event,\n staged on museum premises, also made it possible to underscore, in a\n location generally regarded as the birthplace of Montreal, the 225th anniversary of the brewery, as well as the contribution of John Molson\n to the development of the city since the founding of the brewery on the\n shores of the St Lawrence back in 1786.\n\n\n\"This donation by Molson Coors is crucial to Pointe-à-Callière Museum\n and provides a welcome measure of optimism. The initial stage of our\n project is already under way, but we are now seeking funding for the\n second stage of our expansion project and for what is destined to\n become the Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology and History Complex. It is\n indeed essential that recent archaeological and historical discoveries\n surrounding St Anne's Market and the Parliament of the United Province\n of Canada not be forgotten.
