(the \"Company\" or\n\"Virgin Metals\") (VGM TSX-V) is pleased to announce that the board of\ndirectors of the Company has appointed David Winfield to the board. Ambassador\nWinfield was a member of the Canadian Trade Commissioner and Foreign Services\nfrom 1965 to 1995. During that time, he served Canada in Holland, Turkey,\nJapan, Mexico and New York. From 1989-95, he was Canada's Ambassador to\nMexico, and he served, concurrently, as Canada's Ambassador to Guatemala from\n1989-91. In 1995, the President of Mexico awarded Ambassador Winfield the\nGolden Aztec, the highest award that can be given to a non-Mexican. Among\nother positions, Ambassador Winfield was the Chairman of the Canadian Council\nof the Americas (1998 - 2004) and was on the Board of Directors of Bancomer\nS.A., Mexico's largest bank, from 1996 to 2002.\n\n\nVirgin Metals CEO Chris Davie said: \"The addition of Ambassador Winfield\nprovides Virgin Metals with additional experience and knowledge of Mexico.\nAmbassador Winfield is a career diplomat with extensive experience in global\ntrade and policy and an understanding of Mexico's business practices and\ncustoms. His expertise is a significant asset for Virgin Metals as we continue\nwith our plans to place the Los Verdes project into production as quickly as\npossible.\"\n\n\nIn connection with his appointment, Mr. Winfield was awarded\n250,000 stock options with an exercise price of $0.31. These options will\nexpire on the fifth anniversary of their issuance.\n\n\nThe Company would also like to thank Mr. Carl Di Placido, who has stepped\ndown as a director of the Company effective immediately.
