New Larger Manufacturing Plant Ensures Microbix Will Continue to Meet Growing Demand for its Virology Products

(MBX:TSX) announced\ntoday that it has purchased a new manufacturing plant in the Toronto area that\nwill triple its capacity to produce virology products.\n\n\nLate last year, Microbix raised $6.8 million in equity through a brokered\nprivate placement financing. Some of these funds are being used to purchase\nthe new facility, with additional financing provided by the Business\nDevelopment Bank of Canada.\n\n\n"This is part of our growth plan, and we're pleased to have achieved this\nparticular milestone because it will ensure that Microbix continues to meet\nthe steadily growing demand for its virology products," said CEO William J.\nGastle.\n\n\nThe state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will be the new home to\nMicrobix' base business. This business grew 54 per cent during the first\nquarter of fiscal 2008 and the Company expects this trend to continue.\n\n\nThe production and sale of virology products continues to provide\ncritical funding and technology that help support the Company's development of\nlarge-market products in the fields of biotherapeutics, vaccines, and animal\nreproduction technologies.\n\n\n"All of our large-market products - Urokinase, VIRUSMAX(TM), and Semen\nSexing Technology(TM) (SST) - are making progress," said Gastle.
