Microbix Biosystems Seeks Independent Validation Of Vaccine Technology

TORONTO, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - Microbix Biosystems Inc. (MBX:TSX) today
announced that it will be collaborating with a third-party to test the
Company's yield enhancement technology in the production of influenza vaccine
including avian influenza.
As well, Microbix intends to build on the positive data for this
technology, developed during recent corporate collaborations, by seeking
independent, non-commercial validation. The patent protection strategy is
moving through the process on schedule in several countries including the US
Patent Office.
The Company also expects to announce, in the next few weeks, developments
toward possible agreements regarding two other products in its pipeline.
"We've had a solid year of growth in our core business, and this has
allowed us to move aggressively forward with our strategy," said William
Gastle, President and CEO of Microbix. "Since conception, MBX has always used
its profits for research and development of value-creating products.
Management believes that shareholders will ultimately benefit from these
activities as the Company brings new products and technologies into the
marketplace."
"Our business model continues to produce strong financial results and new
opportunities for market growth," said Gastle.
