Sir Michael has been a Non-Executive Director at Metro Bank since 2015 and served as interim Chairman between October 2019 and November 2020. During his tenure as interim Chairman the Bank appointed a new permanent CEO, strengthened the Board, improved gender diversity, announced a new strategy, and instigated the response to COVID-19. The Board thanks Sir Michael for his commitment and significant contribution during his tenure. \n As a result of his departure, Monique Melis will become the Bank's Senior Independent Director, effective 31 October 2021, subject to regulatory approval. Following her appointment as Senior Independent Director, Monique will be replaced by the Board Chairman, Robert Sharpe, as Chair of the Nomination Committee, subject to regulatory approval.
