[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nHALIFAX, June 9 /CNW/ - MedMira Inc., ("MedMira") (TSX Venture: MIR,\nNASDAQ: MMIRF), a developer and marketer of rapid diagnostic technology and\nsolutions, announced today that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\n(CDC) in the United States has selected the Company's Multiplo HIV/Hepatitis C\n(HCV) Rapid Test to be a part of a program entitled "Opportunity to\nCollaborate in the Evaluation of Rapid Diagnostic Tests for HIV and HCV".\n\n\nThis program of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD,\nand TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\n(CDC) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will see\nevaluations done in laboratories and in the field to determine the viability\nof rapid tests for use in screening and/or diagnosis of HIV and HCV in the\nUnited States. A number of rapid tests will be evaluated as part of the\nprogram however Multiplo HIV/HCV will be the only combination rapid\nflow-through test with the ability to deliver simultaneous results for HIV and\nHCV.\n\n\n"We are very pleased that our Multiplo HIV/HCV test was selected for\nevaluation in this important CDC program. Approximately 3.2 million persons in the United States have chronic\nhepatitis C virus infection.
