ShawCor Ltd. announces projects valued at US$43 million to provide pipeline coating services in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil

TORONTO, Oct. 14 /CNW/ - ShawCor Ltd. (TSX: SCL.SV.A, SCL.MV.B) today
announced three awards worth approximately US$43 million to provide
technologically advanced coating systems on key offshore oil and gas pipeline
projects in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil. Clients served on these projects
include Oceanographia S.A. de C.V. and associated companies Cosemarte and
Allseas, Subsea 7 and Noble Energy.
The first contract, for Oceanographia, will provide anti-corrosion and
concrete weight coating for PEMEX's POL A project in Mexico. This project will
consist of a large diameter pipeline to be installed offshore. The anti-
corrosion coating will be applied by Bredero Shaw's Monterrey, Mexico facility
while the concrete weight coating will be applied at Bredero Shaw's facility
in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. The Bredero Shaw facility in Monterrey is the
leading provider of anti-corrosion coatings in Mexico. The Bredero Shaw
facility in Coatzacoalcos utilizes industry leading Compression Coat concrete
weight coating technology to provide negative buoyancy and mechanical
protection for pipelines in subsea environments.
A second contract will provide advanced ThermoFlo(TM) Flow Assurance
Coatings for Noble Energy's Lorien discovery in the Gulf of Mexico. This
pipeline will be coated at Bredero Shaw's ThermoFlo(TM) coating facility in
Pearland, Texas. ThermoFlo(TM) is a polyurethane-based insulation designed for
offshore flow assurance. Bredero Shaw's Pearland facility has been providing
pipe coating solutions to clients in the Gulf of Mexico for over 30 years.
On a third project, Bredero Shaw has received a Letter of Intent to
provide Thermotite(R) Flow Assurance Insulation and Field Joint coating
services for the Petrobras PDEG (B) offshore oil and gas pipeline project in
Brazil. The pipeline will be coated in a new Bredero Shaw facility in Belo
Horizonte, Brazil. Thermotite(R) is a technologically advanced polypropylene
insulation coating system designed for offshore flow assurance. The contract
also includes the provision of Field Joint coating services at Subsea 7's
spool base in Ubu, Brazil.
As Latin America and Mexico develop their oil and gas pipeline
infrastructure, Bredero Shaw is continuing to increase capacity and introduce
