Maple Leaf Reforestation Inc. Seeds Initial Crop

(TSX-V: MPE)

CALGARY, Aug. 3 /CNW/ - Maple Leaf Reforestation Inc. ("Maple Leaf")
announces that it has seeded an initial test crop of seedlings that are
growing inside 6 existing hoop houses on the nursery site in Liang Chang,
Inner Mongolia PRC.
The 877,520 seedlings that have been seeded over the last 10 days and are
being propagated inside Jiffy Pellets consist of the following type of
species: Norway Spruce - 185,920, Red Pine - 97,160, White Spruce - 105,000
and Jack Pine - 489,440. This initial crop will allow Mark Sandiland, General
Manager of Operations in China, to test all growing conditions, weather
patterns, train staff, etc. while upgrading the existing Chinese nursery site
before the first main crop is to be grown inside the modern greenhouse
currently under construction. Pictures of the initial seeding with the Jiffy
Pellets can be viewed on our Maple Leaf website at www.mlreforestation.com.

Maple Leaf's primary mission is to provide top quality nursery seedlings
and services for reforestation, which will help to correct the environmental
concern of "desertification" in China. Maple Leaf has a 75% interest in a
joint venture contract with the County of Liang Chang, Inner Mongolia, China
(which holds the remaining 25% interest) to ultimately deliver 500 million
seedlings per year for 50 years.
