Maple Leaf Reforestation Inc. Provides Update on Founders' Shareholdings and Greenhouse Construction

(TSX-V: MPE)

CALGARY, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - Maple Leaf Reforestation Inc. (the
"Corporation") announces that it is presently discussing with the TSX Venture
Exchange ("Exchange") an extension to a condition imposed by the Exchange that
an aggregate of 12,100,000 common shares in the Corporation held by the
founders of the Corporation be cancelled in the event the Corporation's
initial greenhouse is not completed by today's date. The proposed extension is
for March 2, 2006 and would be the last extension granted by the Exchange. The
disinterested board members of the Corporation unanimously approve such an
extension and the Corporation is presently confirming similar consents from
the agents involved in the short form offering document offering completed by
the Corporation's predecessor entity, Intercontinental Mining Corp., in March
of 2005.
Despite earnest efforts to complete the greenhouse within the time-frame
imposed, various unanticipated events have delayed its completion. These
included (a) the existence of large amounts of frost in the ground at the site
which affected the Corporation's ability to level the site as scheduled, (b)
the diversion of the construction crew to another job in Canada because of
uncertainty in the timing of the frost thawing, (c) difficulty to locate in
China certain Canadian standard equipment to build the greenhouse and (e)
excessive rainfall in late July and early August which affected working
conditions at the site.
As detailed in previous press releases, the Corporation has attempted to
mitigate the effects of these delays by employing a local contracting crew out
of Beijing to assist in completing the greenhouse and has commenced growing
seedlings in hoop houses located near the site. We refer you to the
Corporation's website at www.mlreforestation.com for pictures of the
construction progress and seedling growth operations. Subject to any further
unforeseen delays, the Corporation anticipates construction to be completed
before year end of 2005.

Maple Leaf's primary mission is to provide top quality nursery seedlings
and services for reforestation, which will help to correct the environmental
concern of "desertification" in China. Maple Leaf has a 75% interest in a
joint venture contract with the County of Liang Chang, Inner Mongolia, China
(which holds the remaining 25% interest) to ultimately deliver 500 million
seedlings per year for 50 years.
