[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\n\nSystem integrated across vehicle platform\n\n\nAURORA, ON, June 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Magna International Inc. announced that\n its Magna Powertrain operating unit, the global leader in\n four-wheel/all-wheel-drive systems, is supplying an innovative\n all-wheel-drive (AWD) system for the new Mercedes-Benz GLA compact SUV\n as well as the A45 AMG and the CLA. The AWD system, called ProActiveTM Rear Drive Module, is specifically designed as a platform solution for\n C-segment vehicles and achieves a high level of integration for an AWD\n coupling and rear axle drive.  This fully integrated system\n significantly improves vehicle performance in terms of drag, torque,\n system efficiency and weight.\n\n\n\"As a long-time supplier partner of Mercedes-Benz, we are pleased to\n support their entire global platform with our ProActiveTM AWD system,\" said Jake Hirsch, President Magna Powertrain.  \"We are\n confident that the performance enhancements enabled by this technology\n will add tremendous value to this vehicle segment.\"\n\n\nThe AWD system was jointly developed by Magna Powertrain and Daimler.\n The rear axle drive and the AWD coupling were developed by Magna\n Powertrain, and the integration into the vehicle was done by Daimler.\n\n\nThe high level of integration was achieved through the use of one common\n oil circuit to improve the coupling function in extreme conditions and\n downsize the packaging.
