KENTUCKY, September 2, 2015
Blow and Drive Interlock Corporation (OTCQB:BDIC) has answered the call from the State of Kentucky. As Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials inch closer to finalizing details of a statute requiring repeat and aggravated drunk drivers to install ignition interlock devices on their vehicles.
"I think we're very close to having the regulations finalized. It's been a lot of work," transportation cabinet spokesman Chuck Wolfe said of the law, which was passed in this year's legislative session. The law requires ignition interlock licenses as part of the sentencing for repeat driving under the influence offenders and first offenders accompanied by an aggravator, such as having a child in the vehicle or possessing a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or above. An ignition interlock license, according to the law, permits a person to drive a noncommercial motor vehicle or motorcycle equipped with a functioning ignition interlock device. The device is a mechanism, like a breathalyzer, installed on a vehicle's dashboard that prohibits ignition if the driver exceeds a minimum blood alcohol threshold.
Kentucky is among 25 states that have passed ignition interlock statutes. The devices are installed completely on the defendant's dime, from calibration to installation to removal, which Wolfe said can get pricey. "They could end up paying a thousand and some dollars over the course of it," he said. Wolfe said the cabinet is almost ready to certify the technicians to install the devices, which is one of the last tasks. The cabinet sent out a request for proposals to companies to provide the devices in Kentucky and five answered the call. They are Smart Start, LifeSafer, Blow and Drive, and Drager.
Blow and Drive Interlock Corp is committed to servicing the people of Kentucky with first class customer service and transparent pricing.
