Mr. David Henstridge, President, is\npleased to announce the acquisition, through staking, of the Svardsjo\nproperty, comprising 284 hectares and covering the historical Svardsjo Silver\n(\"Ag\")-Lead (\"Pb\")-Zinc (\"Zn\")-Copper (\"Cu\") mines within the Bergslagen\nDistrict of south-central Sweden.\nThe Bergslagen district lies immediately to the north-west of Stockholm\nand covers an area of approximately 200 kms east-west by 150 kms north-south.\nThe district is underlain by volcanics and sediments which are more than\n2 billion years old. The region has undergone several phases of folding and\nhas been intruded by at least two generations of granitoids. Bergslagen is a\nhighly mineralized district and one of the most important ore districts in\nSweden, containing deposits of iron, manganese, base-metal and silver.\nThe historic Svardsjo mines are located 16 kms NE of Falun and are\ngenerally considered to be of a volcanogenic-exhalative origin formed\ncontemporaneously with the deposition and alteration of the volcanics. Other\nhistorical mines of this classification within the Falun district include\nGarpenberg, Falun and Zinkgruvan. Historically, there were three ore bodies\nmined at Svardsjo:\n\n 1) Kompanimalmen - Appears on the surface as three lenses aligned\n along strike but at depth these form a single body below the 200m\n level. This group has a slight silver content with the Zn-Pb.\n\n 2) Mellangruvan - Lies entirely in dolomitic skarn. It is a breccia\n with sphalerite, galena and some chalcopyrite that forms a\n matrix. The silver content is three times higher in this ore body\n than the other two. It extends to a depth of 450m.\n\n 3) Norramalmen - Occurs in a vertical gouge zone with massive to\n fine-grained sulphide containing more pyrite and pyrrhotite than\n the other ore bodies.\n\nHistorical records indicate that 973,000 tonnes were mined between the\nMiddle Ages and 1931, then 828,000 tonnes were mined between 1953 and 1972.\nRecords for the period 1959-1971 show that the 775,000 tonnes mined during\nthis time averaged 113 g/t Ag, 0.6% Cu, 2.7% Pb and 6.0% Zn. The average grade\nof 51,000 tonnes produced between 1983 and 1985 was 0.3 g...
