[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nTSX-VN: \"MEX\"\n\nTORONTO, July 24 /CNW/ - Kim Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Midlands\nMinerals Corporation (\"Midlands\"or the \"Company\") is pleased to announce the\nCompany commenced a detailed Metal Mobil Ion (\"MMI\") geochemistry program on\nthe Itilima Project in Tanzania, in preparation for drilling in the fourth\nquarter of 2006. The work program is designed and supervised by Marc Boisvert\nP. Eng.\nMidlands is conducting a detailed survey to select drill location sites\nalong previously detected soil geochemical anomalies. The work program entails\nthree detailed grids with lines spaced at 100 metres and sampling stations\nalong the line at 20 metre intervals. Two grids, the main Itilima Grid and the\nItilima West Grid, are covering two anomalous areas bordering both sides of a\ndiorite sill over a strike length of 3 to 4 kilometres. The third grid is\ncovering an anomalous gold area coinciding with an iron rich dyke taking place\nalong a NE structural lineament.\nA total of 2157 samples are planned to be collected along 57 km of grid\nlines.\nOn July 5, 2006, the first 600 sample batch was delivered to the SGS\nlaboratory in Mwanza, Tanzania. Field work is expected to be completed by the\nend of July 2006 and results are expected in August and September 2006. The\nCompany is targeting November 2006 for commencement of the next phase of\ndrilling for gold on the Itilima Project.\nThe Itilima Project is located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields, an area\nwith over 40 million ounces of known gold reserves. Gold mines in the area\ninclude Barrick Gold's Bulyanhulu, AngloGold Ashanti's Geita and Resolute\nMining's Golden Pride.
